Mediclinic leads the way in quality assurance

Mediclinic Southern Africa continuously measures its care processes against the best practices in the world, and it is therefore proud to announce that four of its hospitals – Mediclinic Muelmed, Mediclinic Highveld, Mediclinic Potchefstroom and Mediclinic Worcester – were recently given quality assurance and accredited by the Council of Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA) for another three years.
This brings the total of fully accredited Mediclinic Southern Africa hospitals to 33, out of the 36 that are currently participating in the programme. ‘Mediclinic has the highest number of COHSASA accredited private hospitals in Southern Africa,’ says Marilyn Keegan, Communications Manager: COHSASA.
The accreditation process uses self-assessment and external measures. More than 3000 criteria are evaluated in the survey, all services must score at least 80 out of 100, and all safety standards to prevent serious harm or injury to patients or staff; contravention of critical laws and regulations or serious administrational, organisational or managerial problems must be met.
‘Mediclinic Southern Africa has maintained consistently high scores on the measurement criteria, thereby assuring patients that this company takes quality seriously,’ she says.
